When Texans are the victims of motor vehicle accidents, the effects have the potential to be life altering. Whether temporary or permanent, the injuries suffered in car accidents may result in those individuals not being able to work in the short term or ever again. In the event of a serious accident in Texas, the medical bills may quickly escalate beyond the ability of the victim to repay.
A recent car accident in Harris County resulted in a four-car pileup. The Baytown accident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on a Friday in December. The individual who police suspect to have caused the crash was a woman who was allegedly driving while intoxicated.According to the initial investigation, the woman rear-ended the back of a car, which precipitated a chain reaction that led to more accidents and the injuries of six individuals.
Of the injured victims, three women were extricated from their vehicle. Of these three, one suffered critical injuries; she was airlifted to an area hospital. The other injured individuals were rushed to a hospital to receive treatment. The driver who was allegedly driving drunk was not hurt but was arrested for suspected DWI. This accident remains under investigation.
When car accidents like this result in the serious injuries, a victim may be entitled to financial relief. An individual who negligently operates a vehicle may be required to pay for documented damages that resulted. The victim must prove that the party believed to be at fault was negligent in a way that caused or contributed to the accident and resulted in the injuries specified. Victims typically begin this process by consulting an experienced Texas attorney to assess the validity of their claim.
